I flew them once many years ago from Dhaka to Chittagong, a domestic flight. The aircraft was the BAe ATP.
It was just over an hours flight, and sevice wise there was just juice on offer. And there was no safety demonstration at all! But they still do the Muslim prayer thing. They only turn on the air conditioning JUST before they shut the doors, so you are sitting on board sweating away.
My experience was really uneventful, having heard such awful things about them, I was quite dissapointed that nothing really bizarre happened.

I haven't but I went to Kuala Lumpur with a few friends one summer. Two of us flew British Airways - non-stop on their 747-400 service took us 13 hours. The other four flew Biman and left earlier the same day. It took them 29 hours and 45 mins.

They were SO late that Biman actually re-routed their BKK-KUL-SIN flight that day to skip the stop at KUL and the flight flew BKK-SIN-KUL-DAC, setting down and letting on passengers at each stop! Not quite sure how they managed it - I guess there were a lot of people who never got on to that plane.

On our return journey - we left again on the same night. The Biman four checked-in at 1700 hrs for their 1900 hrs departure only to be told that they were not on the flight...even after we PHONED them and went to the office in Kuala Lumpur to RE-RECONFIRM their seats. We fought and argued as we all had work to get back to and they finally got on-board. Our check-in for BA later that night at 2200 hours was an uneventful, blessed experience!

Guess what - at Heathrow - the four were again delayed and only got in at lunch-time whilst we got in a 0520 that morning.

They have never vouched to fly Biman again - and I certainly would not either from that experience. They did however think the retro-80s look was really 'cool' on-board their DC10s...think I'll still stick with my usual - thank you.

I've never flown on Biman but I do know that Biman has one of the last commercial DC-10 built and was delivered to Biman in 1988. It was given the name "The New Era". The other three DC-10s came from Singapore Airlines.

I flew Biman a few years ago on the SIN-BKK route, on board their DC-10-30.

The flight attendants were very friendly and helpful. The flight wasn't full, in fact, there would have been about 50 people on board, and we were able to chin-wag with a couple of the flight attendants about cricket (which is getting bigger in Bangladesh by the way) for about half an hour.

The meals weren't world class, but one does not expect five-star meals on an airline which is in fact third-world.

The thing that really surprised me, is that they were able to serve me Aussie beer, Emu Export, which I found trippy, as I didn't think they knew about E.E. in Bangladesh.

The flight was uneventful and I would have no hesitation in flying them again.

From what I understand, Biman's domestic service has something to improve on, which I suppose is why GMG Airlines is doing well for itself (operates Dash 8s).
