Midwest Airlines MD-80s

Wed Nov 03, 2004 4:23 am

Friends, Colleagues, Fellow Aviation Enthusiasts...

A Funny thing happened to me while looking at photos. HAHA HAHA.

I was looking at Midwest Airlines MD-80 photos, and I noticed that only ONE has the COMPLETE new scheme, and that is ship 813. Why is it that the rest of the MD80s have the old paint scheme, new titles, and new logo? How come they painted one MD80 in the current 717 scheme and then just put new titles and logos on the existing MD-80s?

I'd guess from a sheer financial standpoint, there is no reason to repaint the MD-80s other than what has already been done. The only change being made would be to the striping of the aircraft, and its not really worth changing until the aircraft needs a repainting.

Just a guess...

During the transition to the new livery, ship 813 was in the YX hangar being completely overhauled. I can remember exactly where YX got N813ME from, it could have been SAS or mayber even from Japan. It was in the hangar being worked on for a few years, and the completion was delayed my 9/11. Anywho YX has sanded the "Express" off of the remaining MD-80's as well as the old tail logo, and put the new logos on. When the rest of the MD-80's go to get a heavy check then they will get the new livery. Hope this helps out.

I heard that john Edwards was using a Midwest MD80 on campaign stops. This could be that aircraft. Midwest also has a supersaver fares, that uses the older aircraft (I THINK)
ALSO Midwest IS MY HOMETOWN AIRLINE.so i see them all the times since i live less than a half mile from MKE.

The Supersaver flights are not on MD-80s for the reason that they are older, and the livery has nothing to do with the class of service. The only difference is that the seating is 2x3 instead of 2x2. I believe on both Saver and Signature service you buy food, but both still offer baked onboard cookies.

Edwards has a Champion Air 727-200 with an especially ugly paint job on it.

The Saver Flights are ONLY on MD-80s.

Hey, I94South, welcome to the forums! Just to clarify, what you heard is partly correct...the media is being chartered around on the MD-80 that follows John Edwards, not the Senator himself.
