Wed Nov 03, 2004 10:15 am

Anyone know what F-OMEB was doing in Geneva?

Replacing the usual A321...shouldn't this 332 have been in London, Paris, Dubai, Riyadh at the time?

They upgraded the Geneva service a few times to A330s due to high loads.

MEA does extremely well in Geneva. My grandmother flies the route once a year and they always have difficulty finding the day they want to fly.

Arabs love the French part of Switzerland.

They also routinely upgrade Cairo and Jeddah to A330s throughout the year.

A few times in the summer, they upgraded the summer seasonal Nice service to A330s.

Sharm el Sheikh will be upgraded a couple times to A330s as well.

Maybe it is because some A321's were having their autumn check up after the busy summer season (refer to Vatche's picture on A.net) so they had to replace the A321 by the A332...

2 A330 passed by GVA, one operating ME213/214 BEY-GVA-BEY due to high loads(confirmed), and the other ME202 LHR-GVA-BEY rerouted through GVA due to high loads from GVA to BEY and no refueling in LHR(strike)- not confirmed.
AFAIK no A330 was sent to Nice this summer

The way everybody calls it already F-OMED is very funny....! Like the proverb: Ma Tkoul Foul illa ma Yssir bil Makyoul.
Sorry BA but there is nothing concrete yet with regard to the extra A330 even though MEA chairman confirmed his intention to add an extra A330 publicly.
The only good news is that Skyteam Associate membership is still on( end of year or spring official announcement). Everybody else on this forum is telling you that it is not happening, so just be patient and you'll have the last word!

Thanks MEA330.

Any idea when we can expect the order to be placed? I'm surprised they haven't yet. If they place the order very soon, the plane will not be delivered until 2006 I estimate.

If they delay it further, then we are talking about 2007...

Why don't they just get a A340 since they plan to launch to Sao Paulo and whatever long range as well?

Sao Paulo is not in the plans. The only long-haul route that they are interested in is north America where they are banned to fly at the moment.

I've been to the SkyTeam homepage, and nothing is mentioned there about MEA joining them! No wonder also MEA is not saying anything on their wonderful page!!  Smile
