Cabin Chimes/Signals-What/When?

Thu Nov 04, 2004 7:34 am

I've heard all kinds of explanations for the different cabin chimes and what they mean and when they are done but I was wondering if a Delta Air Lines flight attendant can tell me what are all the different cabin chimes/signals, what each means, and when each one is done.

For example such as the "No Smoking" sign - "off/on" = passing 10,000ft.

If you would be so kind as to start with ready for departure at the gate and end with arrival gate chimes. I know its asking a lot but it's just one of those things I'd like to know. Consider it a question from a "wanna-be" flight attendant.

Thank You

Edited: Due to different airlines using different signals as stated, I would really appreciate input from a Delta flight attendant--Thank You  Smile

Different airlines have different chimes meaning different things. Delta chimes the seatbelt sign four times at 10,000 feet signaling it is ok to use electronic items approved for use during flight. There is a chime to signal it is ok for the flight attendents to get up and begin food/beverage prep, etc. There's a chime for the flight deck phone if the captain/first officer needs to speak with the flight attendent on the phone.
