Delta Shuttle In EWR

Thu Nov 04, 2004 10:59 pm

Hi everyone,
I was looking at some pictures taken at Newark NJ and spotted a Delta Shuttle B727-232. Did Delta ever had a Shuttle service from EWR? All Shuttles flights out of the NYC area originate in LGA don't they? I don't think Detla ever had Shuttles flights out of EWR. This picture probably shows a Shuttle 727 at EWR serving as a back up aircraft or extra capacity was needed.

Delta Shuttle aircraft both the old 727s when they were around and the 737-800s were used on Weekends around DL's "regular" network, DL Shuttle 737-800s operated often between EWR and FLL and Orlando until Song "took off".

I flew on a DL Shuttle 727 from MCO - Atlanta in '97, they don't operate that many shuttle flights on the weekends since they are geared towards business travelers. So they use the all coach aircraft on leisure weekend routes especially to Florida.

Many times DLS and USS used JFK and EWR when LGA was closed because of fog. For instance, once I was flying USS DCA-LGA and after two hours in the air we finally landed at EWR.
