T W A Maui-St Louis

Fri Mar 10, 2000 8:46 am

TWA has just started a nonstop 767 flight from Kahului to St Louis, 4065 statute miles. OGG's runway is probably still 7000 ft, which makes this some kind of new record. Anybody know what payload they can lift out of there?

(Coming soon: nonstops to Europe out of LGA!)

From what I recall from reading, once the runway is strengthened this summer, OGG will be able to handle Boeing 777-200s with no payload restrictions. United is now operating the 777-200 from SFO to OGG, and the runway is being checked after each takeoff and landing.

I don't know the exact length of the runway at OGG, but I know it's longer than 7,000 ft. Sufficient for Hawaiian's 10's and Delta's L10's. And of course, UA's 777. I've been there, and that runway is clearly longer than 7,000 ft! I'll take an educated guess, 8600ft? Anyone know the exact length of that runway? This is buggin' me now!

You are quite incorrect. STL-OGG is non stop with a 767-300 not with a stop in LAX. If you work at TWA as you claimed I am sure you would know that. The only flight operating from the west coast is the STL-LAX-KOA flight with a 757-200 and is competing with another 757 in the market operated by UA (actually 2x daily) This is going to be a pretty good pflight

There are two runways at OGG:

02/20 is 7000 feet
05/23 is 4990 feet
