Air Tahiti Nui And Delta Strike Deal!

Sat Nov 06, 2004 11:26 am

Ia Orana all !!!

Air Tahiti Nui announced yesterday at a press conference a few new things, the 2 main information were the nomination of a new CEO and the deal they strike with Delta Airlines.
The French Polynesian carrier and the US carrier have agreed to codeshare on the future PPT-JFK-PPT route. Delta will provide assitance to Air Tahiti Nui in New York and the 2 carriers have also agreed to recognize each others FFP.
It is also mentioned in the article that Air Tahiti Nui is in discussion with Delta and Air France about a partnership in SkyTEAM. Air Tahiti Nui has also a minor agreement with NWA and codeshares with JAL on the NRT and KIX flights and with QF on their SYD and AKL flights.

Happy Flying,

DL does everything for them in LAX and will do so in JFK so they might as well use that to each carriers advantage.

I doubt they look after Air Tahiti Nui in LAX as Delta looks after us, Air France in T5 and ATN is flying out of TBIT.

Delta has nothing to do with TN at LAX. TN did operate at the DL terminal in the begining, however has been over at the Bradley International Terminal now for 2-3 years.

Also TN is a member of American's AAdvantage program. Cant accrue miles, however can redeem miles on them.

You are all right, my bad. I was under the impression DL still did ground handling for Air Tahiti Nui. Apparently it is only AF, JM, AM, NK and SY now.

Apparently there is a chance TN will join SkyTeam. Would probably annoy QF. BTW, it was a strange site seeing an AF 744 at T5 the last time I flew home to LAX. When did AF move in?

ATN has been invited by Air France to join SkyTEAM when Mr Christian Herzog, manager of the Americas came to Tahiti a few months ago. If it joins SkyTEAM it would only be as an associate member.
It might annoy QF indeed but let's not forget that QF recently signed a deal with AF for flights between SIN and CDG operating under QF codes on AF metal and between SIN and SYD/MEL/PER/ADL/CNS/DRW under AF codes on QF metal. It doesn't mean that QF will join skyTEAM, far from it actually but they enjoy having "extra marital relationships" !
Also, Air France has been operating out of T5 for nearly a year now or maybe 6 months... god knows...

Could not have been a year, because I saw them at Bradley less than a year ago

It was a very strange operation when we moved to T5 because the aircraft operating AF070 and 071 was docked at TBIT and disembarked its passengers there but boarding passengers had to check-in at Delta's terminal 5 than were bussed to TBIT for boarding, it is only since april that AF docks ALL flights at T5 and bus the transit passengers to Papeete or Paris to TBIT, all check-in and disembarking is now done at T5.
Hope it helps...
