Star Alliance CRJ-900?!

Sun Nov 07, 2004 7:20 am

Could someone please explain why there is a CRJ-900 in the Star Alliance livery? I'm going by what the photographer said and the fact the the aircraft on the left has two cargo doors. To my knowledge, the only CRJ with the two forward cargo doors is the CRJ-900.

Hmmmmmm, Mesa Airlines flying CRJ-900 for USAirways? As you know YV is the only operator of the -900 and they are still taking deliveries for the next year or two and with Airways loosing their financing for the EMB-170's maybe they have a new deal with YV to supply some additional lift. Anyone else have any ideas?

Bombardier supplied these aircraft for AC to show to their high profile customers prior to the order of the CRJ705 (which is really a CRJ 900 with fewer seats), and EMB190. Almost like a giant focus group - I believe they also took the customers on test flights.

Damn...Bombardier must really want that contract, though I guess they need it.

I'm pretty sure it was just a temporary promotional livery, and soon after, it was painted into America West Express livery, and delivered to Mesa.

No, the CRJ-700 in that photo went to Lufthansa's Regional partner as D-ACPT.

Why would someone paint an aircraft in a promotional livery and then paint it in a different livery, a few days alter? What a waste of money

Boeing did it with the house coloured Korean 737 which they then painted back into standard Korean colours shortly after. It was delivered to Korean instandard Korean colours.
