Are they going to get some of the parked UA 735s? Anyone know?

Didnt they make that announcement a few months ago?? I'm still waiting to see what the order for 20+ new airplanes is going to be....

I thought that the announcement had been made a couple months ago also and that they had already taken possession of the B735, but I wasn't aware that they were completely eliminating their B732 fleet by the summer 2005. Also, the article posted on CanJet's website lists today (Nov. 08, 2004) as the date of the article.

On a related note, when did CanJet cease YUL-YHM operations? I was considering flying them over the Christmas season and I see no notification/press releases on their website stating that this route has been discontinued. Another blow to YHM, I guess.

Hmm I was looking at the Canjet website and in their destinations, MDW is not there. Did Canjet stop operations to Chicago?

Yes, Canjet pulled out of MDW. Seems as though both Canjet and Harmony are having difficulty competing with the other players in the industry.

Its a good idea that they bring some 735's but they should hang on to a few 73S's for a while.

Another blow to YHM, I guess.

Use it or lose it! A convenient alternative to YYZ, but the demand just wasn't there.

I'm still waiting to see what the order for 20+ new airplanes is going to be....

I heard through a friend that that deal for the 20 aircraft fell through as it was to do with planes that could have potentially come into the market through a RTL or bankruptcy.

I think for both Harmony and CanJet it was all about not having enough marketing out there. I'm sure certain routes would become cash crops if they only put some capital into it.

It's sad to hear that CanJet pulled out of MDW.  Sad They had the Toroto-MDW to themselves. The only competition was at ORD from AC, AA, and UA. I hope they reopen the route sometime in the future or another Canadian airline can jump on the route.

A sensible move. The 735 is a young and extremely efficient aircraft.

To tell you the truth, I hope with the additional aircrafts, they can focus con on Florida routes from Atlantic Canada. Those seem to be doing rather well. How about some flights to Western Canada like YHZ-YVR?

Noise,

YHZ-YVR would be nice, but it's beyond the range of the 735 and the 73S. They'd have to think about buying some next generation 737's or something that could handle that kind of range.

When is CanJet going to serve YYG? That would give me a chance to try them out!

How far is YHZ-YVR?

Isn't the range of the 735 around 3,000 miles?

I don't know the range but the flight time would be around 6-7 hours and would be nothing more than a seasonal route.

I have heard that the LGA service is seeing pretty meager passenger loads. I wouldn't be surprised if that is pulled as well.

The original plan earlier this year was that Canjet was acquiring B735 models from an ex-European airline (Sabena leftovers?) due to their specific extended range.

They are growing slowly at YHM. Reminiscent of WS several years ago.

According to the great circle mapper, YHZ-YVR is 2398nm.

According to the Airliners.net Aircraft Data and History, the 735 has a standard range with max passengers of 1520nm, and a higher gross weight option range with max passengers 2400nm.

Even with the higher gross weight option (more fuel), it wouldn't be able to fly YHZ-YVR as most flight plans involve distances longer than the great circle mapper.

The LH 735's have a higher certified range that the standard 735 so perhaps LH is a (partial) source. Anyway, if memory serves at least 5 of the 735's will be ex-SN which are all standard 735's.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.
