Where Is My 732?

Wed Nov 10, 2004 11:31 am

Hi everybody,

I, in January next year will be returning to the US once again, to hit the slopes and to Watch the Sundance film Festival. I plan to travel on a round-the-world star ticket, which will also include some time in Scandinavia.

Here is my big wish. I want to ride on a 737-200, because it could well be my last chance. Is anybody still flying the 732 into SLC? I know America West did last year, and I am wondering if they still do?

I can enter the US from either the east or west, its not really a problem which direction i travel in. Anybody got any suggestions? I dont mind paying of a seperate ticket, and i probably will have to at some point due to the millage restrictions on RTW tickets anyway.
So, anybody got any Ideas? How do i get on a 737-200? I would like the America West ones if possible because they're 737-277s.... They started their lives here in Australia so it would be nice to see them at the end of their careers.

Thanks for your help...any info is good.

Cheers
LH

America West did. I actually booked a segment from PHX to SLC because to be a 732, but they changed it to an A320. HP is getting rid of the 732s now. The rate was something like one a month or a bit less. The last time I checked (a couple months ago) they had like 4 732s left. Your best bet looks like Delta. Though, I don't know what their 732 ops are in SLC, if any.
Caution wake turbulence, you are following a heavy jet.

once you are in america you could try swa (southwest) i think they still have some
If Continental had a hub at DFW with nonstop flights I would always fly them, unfortunantely good things take time.

Southwest does still have some -200s (thru mid-January, at least) but he'd have to come to ELP, ABQ, or Texas to catch a flight on one. Sort of out of the way if he's going from LAX/SFO to the SLC area...

You could always come up to Alaska. Most of Alaska Airlines' planes between ANC and FAI and all of them between FAI and BRW are -200's. Plus they're the combis so you get to board them through the rear stairs.

I found these quite by accident while looking up something else on Travelocity. DL is shown to operate 732s from Chicago-O'Hare to Cincinnati and Atlanta, and possibly other places. Their 732s are speculated to come out of the fleet soon, so you might want to look up one of the Delta threads regarding fleet reductions. Those flights price out as $177 ORD-CVG and $198 ORD-ATL on DL for a random weekend in February 2005.

Delta flies the 732 to MSP from CVG and ATL, we usually get three of the 732's here a day.

And of course WN still flying them.

Aren't HP 732's already gone??

If you want to fly a 737-200 while in the US, Delta is your best bet, as they have the largest remaining fleet. America West and Southwest are down to a few samples which will be retired in the next few months if they haven't been already.

Why not come to Canada where we still have lots of B732s flying with WestJet, CanJet, and Canadian North.

Its a bit out of your way, but do come to India. You'll still get to fly Alliance Air's B737-200s on several routes out of practically all the major metros.
