There's nothing keeping any of those airlines out of MDW
right now. MDW
has available gate capacity (controlled by the city) for new entrants. ATA is nowhere near using all its gate capacity with roughly 75 daily mainline departures from 14 gates.
doesn't fit Allegiant's current business model (which is a few weekly flights from tertiary airports to LAS
) but who knows if they'd want to change that. Why they'd want to compete with WN
's 9 daily flights to LAS
is beyond me, but maybe the plan would be to offer flights from places like FNL or BIS
(though it would be difficult to offer a reasonable schedule).
America West served MDW
in the past and pulled out. Read whatever you want into that.
JetBlue has stated they would prefer to serve ORD
