I will be very satisfied when low cost carriers, such as EasyJet, start engulfing the Balkan market. Slovenia is the first Balkan nation where EasyJet began flying, and indeed the flights between London and Ljubljana has taken a fair chunk from the flights that are operated between London and Zagreb. Croatia Airlines estimated that since EasyJet commenced flights to Ljubljana, they registered about 20 passengers less per flight between ZAG
Without a doubt, if EasyJet were to begin service to Pula, this will be another good alternative for the inhabitants of Rijeka, Karlovac and Zagreb. The only issue is how protective will the Croatian government be towards Croatia Airlines. Surely the government will not support policies that will seriously hamper the national airline, especially since last year was the first time the airline posted a profit... not to mention that it is government owned and operated.
