Report On FR/MYT Incident At MAN

Thu Nov 11, 2004 6:03 pm

The official report on the incident at MAN last February where an FR 737 crossed the active runway in the path of an MYT aircraft has been published. It puts the blame firmly with the Air Traffic Controller who, moments after clearing the MYT for take off then cleared the FR to cross the active runway. Sixteen recommendations have made for improving safety.

Note: I have edited the post becasue I got one fact wrong. It was not the same controller who cleared both aircraft - one controller was responsible for take offs on 06L, another for landings on 06R and a third for ground movement. The ground movement controller cleared the FR aircraft after the 06L controller had cleared the MYT for take off.
