Louisiana Airways Almost Ready For Takeoff

A couple of things here...

1) I'm glad they are using the 1900's instead of the Caravans...but aren't 1900C's unpressurized?

2) Lakefront Airport instead of MSY is an interesting proposition. There wouldn't be the chance to get any connecting traffic there, but it would be easier to use from an operations standpoint. Also, it's a little closer to downtown, and since they are going after business traffic, that may turn out to be a good thing.

I actually think this would be a good idea for Ohio, but only if the fares would be cheaper than just taking an RJ hop on DL or CO.

My main concern would be how they would get around the airport security regulations. If they intend on operating out of FBO's then they will be bypassing security checkpoints, which means they will have to operate out of non-secure ramp areas at all airports. I imagine that the FAA would have a problem with an airline that proposed to operate in this manner, especially one that operated scheduled services.

Lakefront hasn't operated any scheduled services since I've been here at MSY (18 years in March). I hesistate to think that they have operated anything scheduled since MSY opened, and air carrier service was transferred to MSY from NEW.

Lastly, I hesitate to believe this airline will go until the first airplane dumps its first passenger.

They may be operating as part 135, or 121 supplemental, but possibly 135 is they are using lakefront.

They are probably operating as an Air taxi, given that the B1900 holds so few PAX. Also, a lot of big FBOs (especially places like Signature, Mercury and Million Air) have x-ray machines and metal detectors in their facilities now. It is possible that this is what they will be doing.
