UA Domestic - What Can I Expect?

Sun Nov 14, 2004 3:50 pm

I will be flying with UA during December and was wondering what I can expect in the line of service, having flown with DL and US in the past?

Would it be possible to get paid upgrades from Q-class to E+, or are those seats only for Mileage Plus members and pax booked on Y, M and B class fares?

JFK-SFO (757)
SFO-DEN (777)
DEN-ORD (777)
ORD-DCA (320)

Your thoughts please.

Well on your JFK-SFO flight it will be on one of UA's new P.S. 757's which stands for premium service and this a/c has three classes. First, Business and E+ so to answer your first question, you are definitly going to have an E+ seat on the JFK-SFO leg of your trip. Hope you have a good trip!

In reality, they can sit you in E+ from any ticket, you just have to be really, really nice and hope no elite or full fare passenger takes the last seat. Just tuern owen dee saud effrikan excent and you will do fine  Big thumbs up.

Also, despite what some people say, UA does offer decent, friendly service, and their on-time record the past couple of years has been exemplary (a major change). Also, you will get food on the JFK-SFO flight, and it is not that bad. Don't forget to take advantage of Channel 9 on the audio system. It is the channel that allows you to listen to the pilots and the ATC frequency (if the captain is not a jerk who turns it off).

Hi COEWRNY

Has PS actually been implemented on the JFK-SFO flights? The 767 (UA7) has been changed to a 757, but I don't think it's actually a PS configured 757.  Crying

If it has changed from a 767, it is definately a P.S. flight. The P.S. service is taking over from the UA Flagship service, which were the 3 class 762s that flew LAX/SFO-JFK. Both UA and AA consider these routes, especially LAX-JFK, their flagship routes and treat them differently from other domestic flights. You are getting a P.S. plane, don't worry

Not all the JFK trans-cons have been switched over yet. There is only a select handful for the time being. Any JFK-LAX/SFO flight that is using the 757 though is the P.S. Service. The inaugural P.S. flights were about two weeks ago, somewhere around the 30th of October. All the trans-cons should be switched over in the first half of next year IIRC as they retire the 762's that are currently being operated on the routes.
