Delta Business Elite Service Int'l

Mon Nov 15, 2004 12:00 pm

I am looking for any feedback on Delta's Business Elite International service. I will be flying with them more in the future and want to know more about the seats, food, service, equipment etc.

Thanks much!
I will no longer stress about upgrades!

It is good. I think CO has a better product, even though DL is my airline of choice. If you are on the 777 a/c, BizElite is a noticeably different product.

Where will you be going?

Hope your travels go well!

I just flew Business Elite from Portland, OR to CVG round trip. Great seats, plenty of room, although not a full recline but I had no problem sleeping. Crew was AWESOME.....pretty good food but all served on one tray. I was on a 763 both ways and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Enjoy!

I've flown them a couple of times to Europe. I think that CO has a way better product. CO is the best way to travel when traveling internationally. Atleast that's what I think.

Aircraft - Excellent condition 767 and 777's
Punctuality - Better now that the MD11's are gone
Seat - Good - better on the 777, which are wider.
IFE - Good
Food - Regular
Crew - Terrible
Lounges - Terrible (the Biz Elite lounge in ATL is simply terrible)

Hmmm... You guys are tough critics!

I've flown Bizelite across the pond at least ten roundtrips, I was more than impressed. The IFE was wodnerful, the selctions of wines and food was wonderful! They're just more down to earth. The seats were more than comffy, and the inflight service was wonderful. The last time I flew I noticed that the F/As seem to get older and older on each trip, I guess they continue to cut F/As by senority which in turn removes the yonger prettier lasses! I've left out of most of DLs Intl airports (CVG, JFK, ATL, BOS) and honestly the nicest crews have been CVG based.

I don't think anyone could honestly say that they were disapointed after flying Delta's BizElite, you'd hafta be a real snob! Anytime you fly in first or J class I hope you apperciate that there are a great many person who probably will never get that expereince.

Sfoerik have a great trip, let us know what you think!

I've flown both Continental and Delta in Business. Here's what I think.
Better on Delta:
Cabin Crew. They're usually terrific, especially out of JFK and Cincinnati.
Way, way better than Continental.
Amenity Kit. From L'Occitane. Much better than Continental.
Lounges. I like the Business Elite lounges in ATL, CVG, and JFK
Concierges. They're usually very helpful on the ground at JFK and ATL.
Entrees. I think they're better on Delta. I often have the soup.

Better on Continental:
Seat. Although it's not the best thing ever, Continental's are somewhat
more comfortable.
Dessert. Continental offers a choice of fruit cobbler or ice cream.
Coffee. Continental offers cappucino and espresso.
Domestic first/business: Continental's is 5,000x better than Delta. Delta's business/first service on Transcon and Hawaii flights is ghastly.

Delta BizElite Concierges are gone.

Cabin Crew. They're usually terrific, especially out of JFK and Cincinnati.
Only Witnessed the cabin crew ex ATL, and BOS. The ATL crew are consistently terrible. BOS crew on BOS LGW were excellent whilst the route lasted.

Lounges. I like the Business Elite lounges in ATL

In comparison to BA or AF, the DL Biz lounge in ATL is terrible, and overcrowded.

I would put DL's J service in the second division of trans-atlantic carriers.

1st Divsion
British Airways
Air France
Virgin Atlantic
Lufthansa
Continental
Swiss
BMI

2nd Divison
Delta
American
Iberia
United
Northwest (A330)
SAS

3rd Division
Aer Lingus
Alitalia
Lot
Tap
Northwest (Dc-10)
Olympic

"In comparison to BA or AF, the DL Biz lounge in ATL is terrible, and overcrowded"

Have you ever tried any AF lounge at CDG Terminal 2? Aside from Terminal 2E which is unusable (but had a fantastic new lounge), all the other terminals are so poorly designed and engineered that the lounges are narrow, extremely crowded, and stuffy. The number of restrooms available in each of the lounges is also pathetic (in fact, in some of them, you have to exit the lounge and walk to the other side of the terminal to use the bathroom!)

I fly a B/E roundtrip every two to three weeks transatlantic and while it may not be as good as BA or VS, it certainly ranks up there in terms of overall experience. Seat comfort and f/as (ex-JFK) are much better than on AF, LH (haven't tried the lie-flats on AF/LH) LX (on the LX A332s), AA, and UA.

Excellent IFE -

WHAT???????

They regularly show movies from 15 to 20 years ago. It got so bad that I now rent TV series DVDs (CSI, ER, the West Wing) and watch them on my laptop because I got tired of watching WORKING GIRL and WALL STREET.

Only Channel 8 shows 'older' movies like "Working Girl" or "Wall Street". Channels 1 - 5 show the regular first-run or "just released on video" features that all airlines seem to show for the month while channels 6 and 7 show short-subject programs...

Panamair... Yes, I have tried the lounges in paris CDG, in 2C and 2F. You simply cannot compare the of these lounges to what passes for a business elite lounge in ATL.

Consider that the DL business Elite lounge is their premier lounge for international business passengers only, and the AF lounges deal with all C class passengers no matter where they fly. The DL lounge in Gatwick is basically in a basement also, with no services. The DL lounge in MUC is also very poor in comparison to the BA lounge in ATL (1 flight daily)

CDG beats ATL due to these factors.

1. No blaring over-loud TVs everywhere
2. Proper selection of magazines and newspapers in more than 1 language
3. Better selection of wines, champagne, beers
4. Proper view over the airport.
5. Comfortable, and private seating arrangements
6. They don't card Elite Plus passengers in their thirties for a beer!

The best part of the DL service is the seating, and its falling behind even secondary European and Asian carriers, like Air NewZealand and Air Portugal. DL cabin crew ex ATL are simply the worst international crew I have ever seen. They don't care about passengers, nor the food they serve.

Don't forget the famous MENDZIE lounge at AMS. Talk about a hole. It's embarrassing for DL to use subject a facility for its premium product.

It's so bad that I now just reject the entry pass and kill some time walking through the airport.
