Anyone ever used their car seat on an Airline?
I'm currently perplexed by Air New Zealand's policy.
"If you have booked a seat for your infant, you are welcome to bring a
car seat for the infant to sit in. The car seat must have its own inbuilt
restraint system and be of a type approved for use in motor vehicles.
Please refer to the chart below. It must also be in good, safe working
condition and should be no wider than 43cm or no higher than 48cm in order
to fit within the aircraft seat. "
I don't know where they get this 48cm height from. I can't find a single car seat for a 9 month-3 year old that is less than 56cm in height. (this is a pretty typical car seat these days- Britax etc.)
The odd thing is Air NZ is the only airline I can find that has a height limit. All other Airlines say: 33cm or narrower, and approved to a high safety standard /FAA/EU etc approved.
I've written to Ralph Norris, (NZ CEO) via his PA, and hope to make them see sense, that there is no car seat that can meet their requirements in my son's age range!
I can't find a single int airline who shares this odd height policy.
Anyone else ever had problems getting their child's seat used?
