Any News On Boeing's 747 "Guppy" Transporter?

Wed Nov 17, 2004 10:51 am

It's been a long time since I've heard anything about the modified 747s that Boeing is building to transport 7E7 fuselage sections. Has anyone heard anything or seen pics of the modification in progress?

I don't think any metal cutting has taken place yet. Boeing has yet to even positively ascertain who's sites this interesting ship will fly from (overseas builders). That might influence the design. It has been stated that this aircraft was envisioned as a minimum growth design change from the base ship and would not require too much investment in time to develop.
