What peeved was why we were an hour late to begin with. AA
overbooked the next-to-last DCA
flight on a Friday night, needed 15 or something people to give up their seats, and said $250 in vouchers was their final offer. When they didn't get enough takers, they started boarding the flight, then the gate agent came on, stood in front of the cockpit with her arms folded and said we weren't going anywhere until 8 more people gave up their seats. Why they wouldn't just bump, I don't know, but we sat there until 8 people got so frustrated they stormed off the plane.
gate agent actually made the girl cry from yelling at her. I started to say something but the moment was handled quite nicely by a rather large businessman who connected from another flight but was in our same situation. He proceeded to use more curse words in one tirade that I thought humanly possible. Normally I don't approve of such behavior toward CSRs, but this dude had it coming.
will be a nightmare at Thanksgiving. Take the trAAin but be aggressive about pushing your way on. And don't stop to pee, buy a soda or whatever until you've actually gotten to your gate.
"We hope you've enjoyed flying with us as much as we've enjoyed taking you for a ride."
