Non-Reving To Australia?

Sun Nov 28, 2004 8:16 am

I'm considering novreving to Australia from Chicago sometime this year. Does anyone have any experience nonreving to Australia? I can purchase tickets on both UA and QF, but would prefer flying UA becuase of the likelyhood of getting upgraded. Are there certain times of the year that are better to travel, in terms of typical loads between the US and Australia. I can fly either through SFO or LAX. Any one better than the other? Thanks for any info!

I don't know anything about the type of tickets that your staff travel office can isssue, but if it's possible I'd highly recommend getting a ticket that's valid on both UA and NZ. As Star partners this may well be do-able.

That way, you'll have many alternatives for getting to Australia if your UA flights are full. NZ does SFO-AKL three times weekly, LAX-AKL at least three times daily (twice non-stop, one or more via the Pacific Islands), and LAX-CHC three times weekly too. So your options would be..

You won't get upgraded on NZ, but I'd say it's worthwhile getting an NZ ticket - after all, you can always refund it if you don't end up using it, and gt gives you a hell of a lot more options for getting there on your preferred date. Good luck!
