I'm interested to know why there are so many charter flights operating between Madrid + Barcelona, and Cairo (Egypt). If there is that much demand then why don't MS and IB increase their flights on the route.
Spanair, Iberworld, AMC Aviation and Air Cairo all have flights on the MAD-CAI-MAD and BCN-CAI-BCN route.
Winter 2004-2005 charter flights:
Spanair: BCN-CAI-BCN -JK2627- 2x weekly.....MAD-CAI-MAD -JK2684- 3x weekly
Iberworld: MAD-CAI-MAD -TY9149- 3x weekly
AMC Aviation: CAI-MAD-CAI -AMV5692- 1x weekly
Air Cairo: CAI-BCN-CAI -MCI6694- 1x weekly .....CAI-MAD-CAI -MCI6524- 2x weekly
Total: 12 flights
Current scheduled service:
Egyptair: 4x weekly flights to MAD (MS752/754) and 2x weekly to BCN (MS768/764)
Iberia: 2x weekly MAD-CAI-MAD flights (IB3734) and 3x weekly MAD-BCN-CAI-BCN-MAD (IB6974)
Total: 11 flights
Why don't scheduled flights increase? It's quite a unique situation as Egyptian authorites rarely give charter airlines rights to compete directly on MS routes.
Does anyone know what aircraft TY and JK use on these routes?
