Whats MYT's DC10 Doing Here?

Sat Dec 04, 2004 9:29 am

In this pic there is a DC10 in airtours colours, I thought all MYT's DC-10's were retired at kemble and the DC-10-30 was at MAN:

Although wearing an Airtours-style livery - the aircraft was never anything to do with the UK airline.

It is one of a pair of DC-10-10s that were used on behalf of Airtours Holidays' US subsidiary SunTrips.

Initially they were operated by Skyservice USA, and later by Ryan International with SunTrips titles. I believe they flew mainly from the West coast to Hawaii, and were retired towards the end of 2002.

Could be a Suntrips/Ryan DC-10....I believe Suntrips was an american arm of Airtours....American tour agency. Had the same livery as the old Airtours 10's but instead say Suntrips on side.

On a side note...Ahhh how I remember Airtours equipment swaps....replacing the A332's with DC10-10's and 30's. Those, along with the Monarch and JMC 10's were so classic and fun to go play around on when I was a gate agent.....miss those days!

The more interesting bird for me in that pic is the Aero Lyon DC-10 (next to the MYT) Lately some DC-10s have gone to OPF, shame they didn't send that one there.
