New ANA Pokemon

Mon Dec 06, 2004 1:20 am

I just saw ANA's new Pokemon livery and it looks very nice. I never liked the Pokemon aircraft, as I don't really like the cartoon itself but this new Pokemon livery is very beautiful, nice and really stands out at any airport I would see. What do you think of ANA's new Pokemon livery? And why do Japanese people use such cartoon liveries so often, is it the culture? I still haven't understood why Japanese airlines are so fond of their cartoons...?

Hola,

I like this new livery very much. I have not liked the other Pokemon liveries but this one is very pretty.

Personally, I find the scheme very colorful but a little tacky. Pokemon is immensely popular in Japan with kids, so ANA received lots of good publicity along with it.

Even in the US, Pokemon has a cult following. I think the livery is a work of art visually and in a business sense. I wonder how much Nintendo pockets from this. Wouldn't it be a benefit for US companies to do the same?

It sticks out. Will make people look twice. Then you catch the name. Perfect Advertising. I mean people will definitely look twice at that bird.

It looks like a mixture o The Who's Magic Bus with The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour.

I liked all of these liveries and I wish that all Airlines would apply this kind of spirit into designing at least some of their liveries. This is just awesome and it reminds us of the first rule of flying:

>I wonder how much Nintendo pockets from this.<

If you mean from the advertising, probably a fair bit. They do, however pay NH for the paint job, not the other way around

>Wouldn't it be a benefit for US companies to do the same?<

Have you seen the WN Shamu schemes or the AS Disney plane? They do it all the time. Western Pacific had their whole fleet painted that way.
