Qantas Longreach 747 Museum

Mon Dec 06, 2004 10:31 pm

Is it true Qantas built a special parking stand with supports for the undercarriage of the 747?
Was it an expensive exercise?

You could probably get an answer by emailing the folks at the Qantas Founders Outback Museum - there's a contact email address at the bottom of the page.

I was lucky enough to be at Longreach when the 747 came in, and there was certainly a parking stand for it - but I can't recall if it was specifically built for VH-EBQ, or if it was already there.

If you want more info, here is the thread I started at the time:

"It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." - Bahá'u'lláh
