Anyone has a drawing, sketch or picture depicting the future A350?

Thanks,

Gahh...no. This question has been asked for like the billionth time by the way.

If it ever becomes reality... just picture a A330 with bigger engines, taller landing gear, and new winglets. Just mentally graft the 772ER wing, 7E7-wingtip, and 757 landing gear onto the A330 fuselage.

If it's launched, which some think could come this month, then Airbus will probably publish something with the airline's color scheme on it.

A shoe is called A350? Is it a trademark? I hope Airbus knows about it...the shoe company could sue Airbus and prevent them from calling the aircraft A350...  Wink/being sarcastic

No, maybe its that A400, or maybe that 7e7 that Airbus wasnt worried about at all , but then was and decided to make the A350 to compete with the 7e7 that they werent worried about. Its funny seeing you guys trying to comeback after being :

Sjoerd,

Apparently the renditions from Boeing are going to be pretty accurate. I think they have said 90% of the design has been finalized. The last thing is the tail, and whether or not it will be the "shark fin" or not.

I find this concept quite amazing - there are no public pictures available of the A350 therefore the entire project is labeled as a fraud or PR stunt.

Does anyone really think that Airbus is going to stand back and watch Boeing clean up the entire 250 seat segment with the 7e7 without making a single move to defend its market share. All this on the evidence of a lack of pretty pictures - get real.
Airbus have reacted very swiftly to defend their turf - the worlds largest aircraft manufacturer is hardly going to sit back and hand their market share on a silver plate to Boeing.
To suggest that Airbus are not responding seriously to one of the most competitive programs ever launched (7e7) based on the lack of pictures circulating in the press is just sheer nonsense.

Cheers,
StickShaker

Okay, then why call it the 350? If a 319 is a smaller 320, and a 321 is a bigger 320, why not call this "bigger 330" the A331? Is Airbus just trying to fill the gaps between 340 and 380?

I think it's the lack of a comprehensive set of specifications rather than lack of a picture that are creating the skepticism. Can anyone provide a set of typical airplane characteristics (MTOW, OEW, Engine TO Thrust, TOFL, Airplane Dimensions, etc)? These are the basic data usually provided to an airline leading to a purchasing decision.

A search of the Airbus website using A350 as the topic yields no information, while the Boeing site has this type of data for the 7e7.

While A350 basic spec data may exist, it doesn't appear to be wide spread in the public domain. If someone has these data, please add them to this forum.

Airbus have made the information available in presentations to various potential airline customers...

Various pieces of information have become public through publications like Flight International, such as the 242T MTOW.

So if that's the A350 in those drawings then it'll look exactly like an A330-200, even the tail is the same. If it has an even longer landing gear (due to wider engines) that won't look too pretty. So it will be just another boring A330 lookalike, just like most of their product line. Sorry, but I hope that thing doesn't sell.

I wish FI weren't so expensive to get at home.

Anyway, 533,000 pounds is not that heavy. The 7E7-8 has an MTOW of 480,000 pounds. The 358 carries 12.9% more passengers.

Fortunately for all of us, airlines don't see the looks of a plane as a primary decision making point, but actually consider the relevant factors...

More info in this week's Flight International on the A350;

  • A350-800/-900 will be the same length as the A330-200/-300

  • 7E7 technology engines on all-new titantium pylons

  • New wing - drag impovements, carbonfibre outer wing box, carbonfibre centre wing box, passive and active load alleviation

  • New rear fuselage and horizontal tail - aluminium-lithium or carbonfibre

  • New cabin

  • Flightdeck/systems based on A330 to retain common type rating

  • Expect the A350 to have a higher price tag than the 7E7 due better cost-performance

  • A350-800 projected range 8500nm/15900km

  • Comparison table A350/7E7/B777

    A350-800//7E7-8
    Seats 243 - 27 more than 7E7-8
    Range 15900km - 200km more than 7E7-8
Block fuel per seat 2.5% less than 7E7-8
Operating cost per seat 7% less than 7E7-8
Aircraft max empty weight per seat 3% less than 7E7-8
    Noise QC 0.5/1 - same as 7E7-8

    A350-900//7E7-9
    Seats 275 - 18 more than 7E7-9
    Range 14100km - 900km less than 7E7-9
Block fuel per seat same as 7E7-9
Operating cost per seat 3% less than 7E7-9
Aircraft max empty weight per seat same as 7E7-9
    Noise QC 0.5/1 - same as 7E7-9

    A350-900//B777-200ER
    Seats 275 - 25 less than 777-200ER
    Range 14100km - 100km less than 777-200ER
Block fuel per seat 20% less than 777-200ER
Operating cost per seat 6% less than 777-200ER
Aircraft max empty weight per seat 10% less than 777-200ER
    Noise QC 0.5/1 against 1/2 for 777-200ER

The comparison with the 777 is most interesting, the A350 could do more damage to the bottom end of the 777 market that to the 7E7!

The interesting comparison to me, really, is the 7E7-9 vs. the A350-800.

They're roughly the same size (the 7E7 holds 13 more passengers) but the 7E7 is lighter (at 500,000 pounds MTOW) and has only a mildly shorter range.

Those serious pics of the A350 look more like a A330-200 and 300 just with different engines and titles??? Why not just call it the A330-200SP?

In the yahoo photos, it shows a lot of a China Airlines that hit a bird at Vancouver, and taking off above the China air it looks like a CX A346, does CX opperate the A346 to Vancouver? I thought it was the A343, or is that the flight that goes to JFK?

The article linked below is from the BBC. It has a small picture and a few details, probably nothing that we don't already know. They might also have a few factual errors as the BBC's editorial function leaves a lot to be desired.
