It was reported on the front page of the Newark Star-Leger today, Dec. 9th, that over $ 250 Million in improvements will be comming to Newark-Liberty airport in a new 5 year plan. Most of the focus of the improvements will be to Terminal B, the main international services terminal of the airport. There will be a creation of 3 levels, from the current 2, an international departures/arrivals level, a domestic departures level and a domestic arrivals level. Part of the changes will take up part of under ground parking spaces, no longer usable in the post-9/11 enviroment. There will be a considerable expansion of security and check in space. As it involves security improvements, a significant part of the funding will come from the Federal govenment, in turn from the security fees we all pay. Of course it will probably be a mess for years with all the construction, but it is all badly needed.
