U.S. Warns Of Terrorist Lasers

Sat Dec 11, 2004 12:02 am

Well,
I must start out by saying I am quite dumbfounded by the idea, don’t really know how to react or what to say about it, just seems like they always come up with new ideas, both the media and “terrorists”. Is it really necessary to notify the public of blinding laser beams that may threaten pilot’s vision? The media certainly grips onto these stories, a lot of the time blowing it out of proportion.

“…there is evidence that terrorists have explored using lasers as weapons.” (cnn.com)

I’m sure all the airlines are happy these genres of stories appear every now and then, whether its killer walking canes, or other ways it’s possible to bring down aircraft. I suppose I feel like the media, or the security branch of the government, continues to keep the public on an alert status that flying is not as safe as it used to be. I would bet that the average traveler, when flying, considers terrorism sometime during their travel, is that the media wants?

Ok, enough ranting… don’t mean to subject you to any of my ideas.
