Which AA Birds For AA1915 And 1920

Fri Dec 17, 2004 3:41 am

Hello,

Is there anyone out here who can tell me which AA birds (N- or Fleet number) are scheduled to operate AA1915 (SFO-LAX) 20DEC and AA1920 (LAX-SFO) 21DEC?

Also... I realize that it could change at any time prior to the flight for a variety of reasons, but in general how far out does an airline (not just AA) know which specific aircraft will be operating flight X on day Y?

Thank you very much (& Happy Holidays!)

My wife has flown the CRJs on SJC-LAX. I assume it would be the same bird.

The aircraft is not yet assigned. It's not even assigned for the 18th yet. So, I guess ship assignments occurr 24-48 hours out.

FYI: All SFO-LAX flights are operated by MD-80s, with the exception of one 738 flight, flight 1957 at 2110.

Well, yes and no. Officially there is no acft assignments for these two flights this far out. OTOH, one can do a little digging into the "normally scheduled source" from one flight to its previous flight and eventually figure out what will happen assuming nothing changes.

Taking that very large assumption into account, AA1915/20Dec will be acft 540: reg.# N7540A. How large is that assumption? Consider that particular plane would have to fly: 17th/ BNA-DFW-ABQ-DFW-SAN, 18th/SAN-DFW-ABQ-DFW-ABQ, 19th/ABQ-DFW-SAN-DFW-SFO, 20th/SFO-LAX-SFO-LAX-SFO-LAX-SFO and do all that without a single interruption to any of these (or possibly any related) listed flights!

AA1920/21 is in worse prognostication situation. Backtracking its "normally scheduled source" leads to an acft coming out of TUL maintenance Friday morning... but that plane has not been assigned yet (listed as: "UNKNOWN").

Ask again 2 days prior to the flight and we (AA folks) will have a much better chance of answering the question(s).

Thanks, QQflyboy and AAR90!

I've always wondered what route the AC I was on had taken to get to my origin airport. Very interesting info  Smile.

I guess if I go spotting at SAN the evening of the 17th or morning of the 18th (assuming nothing changes) I'll see the aircraft that I'll be flying on on the 20th from SFO. Something about that just feels wired.*

I'll post again on the 18th, but thanks for all of the info (and taking the time to find it out for me) thus far!

* - I live in Temecula -- closest to SAN -- my dad lives right under departure at LGB. I'm taking a roadtrip/helping a (as of 5:00 ex-) coworker move to Seattle and leaving on Sunday. I'm then flying back from SFO Monday for my dad's wedding and rejoining my coworker in SFO Tuesday morning to continue the trek northbound. Yep, any excuse to fly.  Big thumbs up

Lincoln,

What flight number and departure time/arrival time will you be in and out of SFO. Seeing how it's my birthday I was planning on spending the entire day either on the ramp or near the UA MX area. It's my uncle's give to me and I would be more than happy to catch you on your way out/in if you give me the proper info!

Good luck!

Thanks again.

UA777222 -

Happy Birthday! And that's what I call a cool uncle  Big thumbs up

On 12/20 AA1915 is scheduled to depart at 10:50am so I'll probably be at the airport by about 8:30 or so (unless I read here earlier is advisable  Smile)

On 12/21 AA1920 is scheduled to arrive at 9:46am

It would be great if we could make something work  Smile Send me a private email if you need more info.

[My first - and only, thus far - 777-200 flight was UA100 (I think) LAX-ORD. One of the most comfortable flights I've enjoyed. Glad I could grab that bird domestically]

Good Saturday Afternoon, AAR90 and QQflyboy (or any other AA folks) -

I was hoping now that I'm (slightly) less than 48 hours out, you guys might have more firm idea of ship assignment for 1915 on 20DEC and 1920 on 21DEC.

Thanks!

I am really Looking forward to my first AA segments (in a rather bizare way, booked for just that reason!)...even if the "We know why you fly" slogan is a bit creepy in a Big Brother sort of way.  Smile

Speaking of advertising, I really enjoy[ed] This (even though its 2 years older than me) and, to a lesser extent, This one.

Happy Holidays, and again thanks for the info!

AA1915/20Dec will be acft 540: reg.# N7540A.

Well... things change and no, there is no "official" acft assignments for those flight. A quick (or not so quick) "look-back" to source acft shows acft 417 is now being routed to fly 1915 on the 20th, but that could still change. I'll try to look again Sunday.

Acft routing information:
N407 SP8I FUTURE ROUTING
FLT --FROM-- --TO-- MTC -OFF/ON-- TIME
2409/19 DFW 0933 LAX 1008 407 0933 1008 2.35
1280/19 LAX 1145 AUS 1634 407 1145
1407/19 AUS 1712 LAX 1802 407

1936/20 LAX 1323 SFO 1420
1931/20 SFO 1524 LAX 1619....

Looks like acft 407 will be your bird for AA1915/20Dec SFO-LAX... that is unless things change...again.  Nuts

N552 SP80 MEL FUTURE ROUTING
FLT --FROM-- --TO-- MTC -OFF/ON-- TIME

1915/21 SFO 1107 LAX 1204
1936/21 LAX 1323 SFO 1420

Not yet officially assigned (looks like SABRE won't do that until 24 hrs prior for the S80 fleet), but at the moment acft 552 is scheduled to fly AA1920/21Dec LAX-SFO [greater likelyhood this could change].

I'm flying starting very early a.m. Monday and can't provide further updates. Hope this helps.

Not that anyone else cares, but I figured (just in case there was any interest) that someone may find this interesting:

N407AA did, indeed, operate AA 1950 from SFO-LAX this morning. I wasn't able to get a F class seat, but I was able to get an exit row seat at the gate VERY easially (21F vs. 17A -- very comfortable, especially as 21E was empty).

Very smooth flight, nice cabin crew and a great "Taxi Tour" of LAX (we were parked between the American Eagle "gates" and TBIT for a good 5 to 10 mins). As we were deplaning, a flight attendant and I wished eachother happy holidays at EXACTLY the same instant. That was funny.

Thanks yet again AAR90 (and QQflyboy) for providing the info!
