Chaos In MX And AM: New CEO For Am And More...

Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:38 am

CINTRA is living a total chaos... It all started on tuesday, when Rogelio Gasca Neri had a misunderstanding with Andres Conesa, who was named president of CINTRA's board of directors. Gasca Neri, who was supposed to be the new CEO of AeroMexico was left with his hands empty. Instead, Andres Conesa appointed Gilberto Perezalosno as AM's new CEO. Some people say that AM employees were the ones who did not want Gasca Neri to be the CEO, but the truth is that we are playing a political game here!!!

Finally, Mr. Gil Diaz got what he wanted; the Mexican Ministry of Finance took total control of CINTRA by appointing Andres Conesa, the right hand of Mr. Gil Diaz, as CINTRA's top executive. On the other side, the Ministry of Transportation left with empty hands...

Well, after all, our government knows how to ruin airlines. A total Mr. Nobody will be running AM... Perezalonso knows how to deal with TV stations, not airlines...

Not nice, really, not not nice... Angry

BTW, Emilio Romano WILL remain at MX... No further news on AeroNacional, besides the fact that apparently the name has been authorized...

For the press releases go to: http://www.cintra.com.mx/cintra_e/espanol/accionist/boletines/bolet15Dic04.htm

There were some praises for Perezalonso's financial abilities in Alberto Aguilar's editorial (ex Cifra-Walmart, ex Televisa)...

I must add that one can just hate the "AeroMexicana" name Aguilar and his colleagues insist on using... I prefer to preserve both identities... They both have a long, long history to be wasted or lost... check it out:

So now what???

Regards to all... happy holidays...

Nasty I would say! Right, Paco Gil got what he wanted! Now he has all the power in this hands and big part of the future of this industry relays in Mexico's Secretary of Finance.

I also hate the way they use the name of 'AeroMexicana' I think they still haven't understand that BOTH BRANDS ARE STAYING for several reasons!

As for AeroNacional I don't like that name but what the heck! Last I know is that CINTRA will give 16 new routes and they are considering the possibility of giving them 20 planes. But what type? Can you imagine a fleet of 20 F100, 25 S340 and 5 EMB145! What a MIX!

Yikes

This truly is odd, yet not totally surprising, given the total mess that this sale process is turning out to be. In any case, regardless of who is the CEO of any conglomerate turns out to be, the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be the new management. Once the airlines are in the hands of people who want to make money, things shall probably take on a different direction, or at least a more stable one I would hope ! Right now, the goal I would think is to just sell the airlines at the highest price possible... after this whole this whole mess, the only way is up... I hope Big grin

AM employees (specially the unionized) are angry with all changes made. They claim the appointment of the new CEO of AM and the new President of CINTRA was made to sell the airlines and not to run them, since they don't have any experience in the industry...

http://www.reforma.com/negocios/articulo/478055/

With this said, it is difficult to answer The777Man question, since the new management team wants to make AM and MX look financially good to get investors soon... that might not include the lease agreement of big birds, leaving the decision to the new owners!
