Getting 737 From JFK-India

Sat Dec 18, 2004 9:54 am

Ok- I have a really easy question;

---- How do they get a 737 from JFK to India? (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/734622/M/) Water? They can't fly it, can they?

Easy...have WILCO737 fly it.

The exact route, i have no idea, but i am sure there is a way. Via Gander....Iceland...blah blah blah.

As the photo at that link is a 777 (and not a 737), I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they "can" fly it...  Big grin

The pix is a 777 which I'd assume would have no problem. 737 would probably have to stop for a splash and go.

In the example of Ethiopian Airlines getting their 73Gs, they go from Newark to London Stansted, then onto Addis Ababa (crew change only at London).

They usually fly from BFI to someplace like KEF or RKV and then fly them to wherever they need to go. Asian flights can go BFI - ANC - then to Korea or Japan, or they go BFI - HNL - HKG or the like.

Well......Hows does Europe, Asia, the Middle East ect...get Cessnas over there? And no they do not have a factory in every region of the world.
Believe it or not it can be done, they sometimes add extra fuel tanks, or make lots of little stops. I must say you have to have some guts flying a small single engine plane over the north Atlantic. But back to the original question they land at a bunch of airports en-route to there final destination!

For a cessna don't they take apart the aircraft and ship it in a freighter then reassemble it once it gets to its destination?

There are quite a few pilots who make their living doing the delivery runs with ferry tanks installed. It's a solitary life as their speeds aren't exactly airliner rates!
