Animosity Between Airline Labor Groups

Sat Dec 18, 2004 12:41 pm

Hey folks
Somthing about the whitehouse thread that has been bothering me a little. Are those hard feelings between labor groups long running or are they just temporary because everyone is stressed out due to the troubled times?
I understand that distrust between labor groups is not related soley to the airline industry. I know a few people in construction and the electricians think the plumbers are lazy slobs and the plumbers think vice versa of the electricians. Is it an American attitude? Is it because we want to be independant but also be part of a union and feel important to someone at the same time? Does blind pride get in the way of building or providing a superior product? I know pilots aren't the most modest people on earth but we do understand there are the hazardous attitudes to flying...Macho, Impulsivity, Resignation, Anti Authority, Invunerablity...too much of any of those will get you killed. I know this is an issue that involves many fronts and is quite complex. I do not want to start a big argument, but I think we should look at ways to improve the situation. I do think a managment who is out to milk the system can really take advantage of labor groups bickering amongst themselves. Anyway, feel free to chime in, and again this isn't intended to start a flame war but to look for solutions.

I think it is the "grass is greener on the other side," syndrome. Some people just don't imagine themselves in other people's shoes. Like you said, it is pretty much the case in any industry. However, I think a decent argument could be made that it is even more so in the airline business.
A monkey's ass always talks crap.
