BHX too close to LHR
???? Need to look at a map me thinks. It's 100 miles, In normal traffic, it's at least 90 minutes, in weekday traffic, more like 2-3 hours. Believe, I know, I used to live and work near BHX
. It sucks big time having done it on many occasions.
There are a lot of people in the Midlands who hate having to go to LHR
all the time, the traffic sucks, the airport can be a nightmare and when you are supposed to be at the airport 3 hours before, it makes a late morning departure, a very early morning start!, not fun!
As Wayne's World once said "If you book them, they will come!", I firmly believe that there is a market in the Midlands to support a limited number of flights to the US. I have been on that flight out of BHX
and I remember at the time it being pretty full, so I would say there was a market. Doesn't necessarily have to be daily? Most people coming over are here for at least a couple of days, so I would go with 4 weekly (schedules permitting), Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (Saturday to arrive on Sunday, ready for Monday meetings)
I used to work for Caterpillar (Head Office in Peoria, IL
) and they have a bunch of places across the Midlands (Leicester and Peterbrough to name but 2), but their guys have to fly from ORD
, which makes no sense, particularly when they want to come into work straight off the flight. So if you ask me, if there is a market, I say yes. We just need someone to give it another go.
Would be nice to see another carrier return to BHX
