Glad to hear about your positive experience with UA
United has invested millions in what they call "bull's eye" scanner technology. That means the bar code on your bag tag gets scanned when you check in, when the bag is loaded on your first flight, when it's loaded on your connecting flight, and when it's delivered to your destination airport. The machine beeps if a bag is being put on the wrong plane and, theoretically, anyone at UA
knows exactly where your bag is at any time, even if it is misplaced.
I don't understand why all airlines don't do this. A while bag, my bag was lost on another carrier (who shall remain nameless, but who is dismantling their DFW
hub). When I filed a report, they asked me what my bag looked like and said they'd let me know if and when it showed up. They had no idea where my bag was, when it was misplaced, or when it would get to me. Gee, thanks.
"We hope you've enjoyed flying with us as much as we've enjoyed taking you for a ride."
