While LGA is NYC's most convenient airport, it is most definitely not its most comfortable; it offers bare-bones facilities for harried New York business travelers desperate for frequencies to popular destinations like YYZ, BOS, ORD, ATL and IAH.
I wouldn't really agree with this - I'd say LGA
, while smaller than the other two airports, offers basically similar facilities.
I have not been in the Central Terminal since its refurbishment but I understand there's a wide variety of stuff in there these days, and there are certainly windows through most of it. I found this on a web site about LGA
"There is a wide range of retail outlets and restaurants throughout LaGuardia Airport. The Central Terminal Building provides an array of choices when it comes to shopping or dining at LaGuardia, and boasts the largest selection of all the terminals. Specialty shops, such as Warner Brothers, Sweet Factory, Music Express, Godiva and Lids, can be found here, as well as restaurants such as Sbarro, Asian Chao, Brooklyn National Deli, Au Bon Pain and Melitta Coffee World."
I have always found the US Airways terminal comfortable and nicely modern - this is from the same web site:
"The US Airways Terminal comes a close second to the CTB with stores such as Benjamin Books, Coffee Beanery, Tie Rack, Bodyography and Sunglass Hut. For food and beverages, this terminal offers another Sbarro, Antons, Everything Yogurt, Tea House of LaGuardia (Wok and Roll) and the world-famous McDonald's. The other terminals also provide a slightly smaller selection of cafes, gift shops and newsstands. However, free Inter-Terminal Connection Buses are available roughly every 15 minutes for a large part of the day for those interested in seeing what the whole airport has to offer."
(I love how they describe McDonald's as "world-famous").
If you're just talking gate areas, I don't know - I've never seen AC
's gates at LGA
. But in terms of the overall airport, I would not describe it as "bare-bones" at all - it's a regular big-city airport.
I'm tired of being a wanna-be league bowler. I wanna be a league bowler!
