Does anyone know how many aircraft are in the NetJets fleet?

I don't know the number, but I believe it's a lot. It seems I usually see several at most major airports I fly into. They have the registrations that end in "QS". I have seen four of five on the ground at HOU at one time on more than just a few occasions.

I know that Flight Options is around 200 and that it is second to Net Jets. I believe EJA is around 300 or more but I don't have any sources to back that up. You could try searching the FAA registration database for all of the Planes registered to Executive Jet Aviation, but there are some QS and EJ tail numbers registered to Executive Jet Management too I think so it would just give you a ballpark figure. Sorry I couldn't be of more help,

Having more than any of their competitors, they would be wise to put the number on their website.

I just looked at the Flight Options website and they claim to have "over 215 aircraft" so NetJets would be higher than this figure. Again, I'm guessing somewhere in the 300-350 range in their US opperation alone.

Any reason why the European operation uses aircraft mostly registered in Portugal?

Just curious...

Yeah I tried the FAA registration database but the problem is many of their aircraft are not registered to Executive Jet Aviation or NetJets but to holding companies and banks. Plus, there are many, as Diesel1 pointed out, that are registered in different countries.

NetJets is part of Berkshire Hathaway and they would not need outside financing, and they have multi billions in cash on hand. Berkshire did not break out number of planes in their latest ('03) Annual Report. I do not believe they ever have given numbers, except for commenting on purchase volume. Fractionals buys about 70-80% of all buz jets annually and NetJets is much bigger than any other player. Also, many of FlightOptions planes were purchased "used". I think NetJets owns a very decent percentage of Citation Xs produced.

I think the best tactic is to look at registrations, and I am not good at that. FYI, "QS" tails stand for Quality Service, at least that's what a NetJets Marketing person told me.

Wish I could help on this one but I am not sure so I wont say. But I agree with Qwerty the QS on the tail is a good sighn that it is NetJets, all of there planes tail #s end in QS.  Big thumbs up
Airplanes are only as good as the people who fly&fix them.

I was confused. My mistake. My error came in looking up NetJets tail numbers like N806QS which will come back to Happy Beaner LLC. However, down in other registered owners it says NetJets Sales, among several other things. http://162.58.35.241/acdatabase/acmain.htm I thought Happy Beaner LLC may have been a Holding Company. What it does mean I'm not sure.

Looking up the registrations by owner name NetJets brings up 762 records. However, many of those are simply purchased registrations with no aircraft yet.http://162.58.35.241/acdatabase/acmain.htm

That's why I was wondering if there was an official aircraft count.

Good questions. Netjets is a large company with Multiple divisions all over the world, total over all there are more then 500 aircraft in the fleet. Netjets USA which operates the QS tails, of which they're two divisions. Netjets Aviation and Netjets International. Netjets Aviation is based here in CMH. NJI is based in the Hilton Head SC area. Netjets Europe which operates CS***, registered in Portugal because they are based in Lisbon. Netjets Middle East, is based in Jeddah. Executive Jet management, based at LUK. NJA also operates it's own flight school for it's employees. They have 3 new 172's. In addition to that there are 3 KingAirs that are used to move executives around the country if needed. Not sure what it's like to be a pilot or FA though. They have okay pay with great benefits. I do know that. Any other questions??

Qwerty,

Interesting what the NetJets marketing person told you, but the original intent of the QS was Quarter Shares...It's probably evolved into Quality Service though...

A340,

That would make sense. When Santulli (sp? too lazy to look up correct spelling) was first doing the math on fractional, I bet shares were a quarter. That's pretty cool. Very interesting.

I think a lot of that is plane resell and the new owner just doesn't change the registration. Perhaps NetJets might want to make that part of a sales agreement, since they have kind of branded QS tails, at least for people in the know.
