Well, FLYYUL, I find this a rather general topic so I wouldn't target FLY777UAL for a redundant thread, unless of course there is already such a general one.
FLY777UAL, as sort of noted by FLYYUL, the thread title is a bit unspecific, maybe "Does AT
Still Fly Their 744 Transatlantic" would've done the trick.
Back to the topic, since it's quite general, don't you think that besides the prestige a 744 service into JFK
brings to an airline, it isn't a better choice by AT
to fly a 763 and get closer to daily return trips on the route? I guess they, like most airlines, have come to realize that it takes dailies to attract business customers who may otherwise be tempted to fly a bit North before crossing the Ocean.
Especially if you consider that CMN-JFK
is barely longer - when not shorter or equal - than the distance between Western European hubs and the Big Apple, where a lot of competition dailies will make AT
feel the pinch of reduced frequencies over sheer aircraft size. The 744 can only be justified for its economies of scale on this distance if and only if you do fill the jumbo jet.
