A&E Airline

Tue Dec 21, 2004 12:27 pm

This has to be one of the best Airlines!

Nicoulas is getting hell from a drunk passenger...pretty funny. There was a 10 minute you have an accent war going on. But it all turned out nice.

A passenger's child had a fit flying for the first time...it was just a disaster for the family. They did not fly at all that day.

And a passenger has a peanut allergy! "I know this is not a peanut free airline!"

Also, did anyone catch the line from a random person walking by..."Why are they filming this"?

This show SUCKS! I gave up on it a long time ago. Then I am flipping through the channels the other day and it's on and it's the SAME SHIT! OVER AND OVER AND OVER. This one is drunk, this one smells. Give me a break!

I still like watching it. I'm just curious when it's going to come out on DVD.

Every show is a repeat, because it's the same crap week in and week out!

I hope they cancel it.

Simple solution...if you don't like it, change the channel. I still like watching it, even if it is a little redundant with the stories it shows.

Airline is a new show in my country (A&E MUNDO), it just started a couple of months ago. So far, it's been fun to watch it. The smelly and the drunken passengers are the bulk of the program, but once in a while they show something really interesting. It'd be great if they did a similar show with a legacy carrier, with all kind of national and international passengers.

It could be a great show. However watching it is like slow death. It is boring. I have never understood why every show has to be about custormer service? Why can't they do a show with Maintenance? Or go down to Dallas and spend the day with Dispatch? Hang out on the "C" check line for a day. Spend a day with the training department. Let the cameras follow the flight crews from the hotel in the morning, to the hotel at night. Go down and hang out with the rampers. Spend the day at cargo. There is more to that airline than the CSA's telling drunks they can't fly. Hell spend the day at the Corporate Office for that matter. Come on, don't you people think it would be better if they mixed it up a little?

What about last night's episode with Nicoulas following around the woman with the roll aboard?? He kept saying it wasn't going to fit and policy is that she needs to check it. Of course it fit...he really stinks in my opinion.

I really think that BBC did it better when it opted to do a reality show about Heathrow airport. There you have a combination of many travelers from all over the world and a plethora of various passenger problems, ranging from drug smuggling to immigration problems, major delays, etc.

I know it is not likely in the current environment, but it would be better for A&E or other network to do a similar show on JFK or LAX operations that involves more international traffic. That's when you get the REAL drama. Southwest's operations are all domestic and just don't have the opportunity for entertainment.

I absolutely agree. I've wished out loud for the same type of content on "Airline" for some time now. Unfortunately, I suppose A&E doesn't feel its viewers would find a day with Dispatch or Flight Ops or Maintenance nearly as interesting as the customer service side. I guess not everyone is an aviation geek.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

My sense is that the show is more about human nature. The "airline" is merely a backdrop.

I read in the newspaper that southwest says they get increased bookings when this show airs. I have never flown Southwest, but this show certainly does not make me want to go out and fly them. Of course I live in MSP so I guess I need not worry about it! Another interesting note, I buy plane tickets for my dad who lives in ABQ and flies frequently to MSP,ORD or MDW, BWI, and PHL. Southwest is rarely the cheapest as dad is flexible on travel dates. I guess you don't need to always have the cheapest flights when your pricing seems rational to the average traveler.

The only reason they get more bookings is because some stupid fool thinks they are going to be on TV!  Big grin

I don't mind the show, but it would be nice if they added some variation to it...

given how WN operates, i wouldn't be surprised if it did add some increased bookings to WN, i'm sure they would opt out if they saw a decrease in bookings...

But like I said, did you see the person who shouted "WHAT IS THAT CAMERA DOING!" gotta love it! I'm pretty sure they tell the passengers that the crew will be on board and to ply it cool or something.

that FA comedian thing was a good change, though!

I like the irate customers and how the agents handle them. I would like to see the look on some of these peoples faces when they see themselves on the telly!
Remember, at the entrance to the WN gates at the airports that airline films at there is a sign warning pax that they are entering a filming area, and that merely by entering this area they are giving Southwest permission to film them and use their image.
