Futura To Start Scheduled Flights From MAD And BCN

Wed Dec 22, 2004 2:30 am

Futura, a major Spanish charter airline, will start its first ever scheduled flights from MAD and BCN in January, to LCG (La Coruna, Galicia), with its 738's.

The only other scheduled route the airline operates is PMI-MAH.

Is there a possibility that Futura may open a major base in MAD? Does anyone know if they asked for slots once the new terminals open, in both BCN and MAD?

Interesting, Futura has been operating for the last year for Budgetair (see http://www.budgetair.ie ) on scheduled flights from Dublin, seems they may have gotten a taste for scheduled operations.

IIRC they also offered some random routes through http://www.futuradirect.com I know Malaga to Palma for sure because i nearly booked a flight.

Quite a number of years ago FUA ran scheduled flights between PMI and LGW and operated a weekly service to LBA. They had a 2 class service on these routes. Later on they entered into an agreement with Air Europa to swop the scheduled routes for charter contracts.

AFAIK they also operate the busier routes within the Canary Islands for Binter. Additional info on that would be appreciated.
