AA: MIA-MAN To Resume In 2005/2006

Thu Dec 23, 2004 5:43 am

American Airlines is apparently pleased with the performance of MIA-MAN, despite word that the flight started off weak in profits (loads have been healthy, though), which is futher demonstrated by the cheap fares to be found.

However, they have uploaded the flight for sale for next winter season. It will re-start 30 October 2005. This is likely in an attempt to get advanced holiday planners to book on the flight, nothing is set in stone, but as of now, it is resuming.

Thanks for the info MAH4546. Any idea if this flight will start to operate at a reduce frequency during summer 2006? Also will MAN-BOS operate at a reduced frequency next winter?

Cheers, Matt

777s are reserved for high-yielding flights since they have an F cabin. MIA-MAN definitley doesn't fit this criteria.

Schedule and flights numbers are unchanged.

. Any idea if this flight will start to operate at a reduce frequency during summer 2006?

Unlikely, however AA has also put no end date on the seasonal service when it resumes, which means it is infinitely bookable (up to 331 days in advance) at current. Though they will more than likely put an end date on the service as we get closer to the start date.

Also will MAN-BOS operate at a reduced frequency next winter?

While it has been talked about, and this is more likely than MIA-MAN operating year-round, it is unlikely. BOS-MAN has done very, very well, but Boston-Europe is also a heavily seasonal market that sees considerable more demand during the summer than the winter.

Any chance of DFW-MAN resuming?

There is no point, because with few exceptions, all the major connecting oppurtunities offered through DFW can be made through MIA/ORD/BOS. And one of the most important markets is Manchester-Caribbean, which MIA and BOS offer and DFW doesn't. There is also very minimal O&D on the route.

Mah4546, What's the deal with JFK? Do you see any routes in the works? Anything being considered?

Glad to see another option to MAN sticking around. I non-revved on this flight on 30 Nov and while the Y cabin was about 80-85% full, J class had maybe 10 pax in the 29 pax cabin. I almost had too much attention from the F/A...

I'm sure premium loads and yields will improve with time...

I wouldn't be surprised...loads have exceeded expectations and yields are excellent (no surprise, MVD has always been a strong yielding market). Of course, there is a lot of additional holiday traffic right now, but the flights done well none the less. The few flights so far have been going out near packed, and advanced bookings are strong. Look for MIA-ASU to go non-stop too.

Any word on GLA-BOS ?

It's all went quiet on this and it's a bit worrying. We were expecting an announcement shortly after DUB/SNN !

Gusty, I would imagine that all it was, was just rumours and that they weren't going to do it anyway

I did mention on an earlier thread that the GLA opportuntity went away as AA felt the competition was too hot for next year. The route was forecast to lose a heap of cash even with Scottish Exec funds. BHX fell into this camp too. A very interesting project at AA is being explored for next summer. Announcement in January if it comes off.
More transatlantics are under evaluation for 2006 including STN.

I was at MIA in November and this route was advertised on Billboards as you drove into the airport.
With bmi doing MAN-LAS and AA doing MAN-MIA, this is good news for Manchester travel agents and tourists.

MAH,

You´re certainly right on that. I was on the inagural, and the loads were defenitely surprising. Asu would probably work, but I´m not sure if to the extent of MVD. The sales people in Uruguay are certainly doing a great job pushing the sale of this flight. They are so excited to finally have their own nonstop, and they certainly want to keep it, with eyes towards making it daily and year round.

MIA-ASU has more traffic, but doesn't have the excellent yield that MIA-MVD does.

"What's the deal with JFK? Do you see any routes in the works? "

Not from MAN as this would compete with the codeshare they have on BA already

The MAN - MIA route is performing well with many pax on Cruises etc.
and yes will remain on a 763
