As has been previously discussed ad-nauseum on the board since the re-painting began here is my understanding of how UA
'saves' money by repainting their aircraft.
Aircraft have currently been repainted as they come up for their heavy D-checks, at which point in time UA
would normally repaint the aircraft anyway.
Supposedly the new paint scheme is cheaper to apply to aircraft than the old one and therefore it is costing them less to repaint them in the new scheme vs. the old one, and since they are waiting for D-checks to come up, they would have been repainted anyway.
