Fri Dec 24, 2004 2:06 pm

From The Wall Street Journal (excerpt):

SHANGHAI -- China Eastern Airlines Corp. (CEA) said Friday it has signed an agreement to buy six 737-700 airplanes from Boeing Co. (BA) to meet growing air travel demand.

The price of the aircraft purchase contract is about $240 million, China Eastern Airlines said in a statement.

This order was probably more of economical need than political. Just some basic fleet additions to the exsisting family of 737 jets...

Great news! Always glad to hear when my Boeing has signed a deal, whether it be an order for 2 or 50 planes.  Smile Any idea on when they are scheduled to be delivered?

"Any idea on when they are scheduled to be delivered?"

The first aircraft will be delivered in January 2006 and the last in August of the same year, it said in a statement in the official Shanghai Securities News.

Also they can charge more money per passenger.
In China, they charge more money for a B737NG flight than a A320series one.

Probably. And Santa Claus was probably just coming through the chimney while the deal was signed...  Wink/being sarcastic

...and that rather odd generalization is based on what - personal experience on all Chinese airlines with mixed fleets - or rumours? Sounds like a story from 1001 night to me...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Agreed that Boeing did want to settle the deal before the EOY, BUT i seriously doubt any real Chinese or American Govt. influence on THIS DEAL. The timing's sketchy, but I wouldn't understand why anyone but Boeing itself would want (pressure) China Eastern to order the 73Gs before EOY...
