Pardon me for a probably stupid question.
I have flown Eastward before, with shortened nights and days.
I have flown Westward before, with endless night or day.
I have flown South, but to same time zone, pretty predictable.
Now I am booked on United 851 on January 7, from Chicago to Beijing. The flight leaves ORD at noon and arrives in PEK at 3:40pm.
On the way back, UA850 leaves PEK at 5:35pm and arrives at ORD at 4:30pm.
I (sort of) understand the International date line, and I know that Beijing is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the USA.
What I simply CAN'T figure out is whether those United flights will be traveling through daylight or darkness. I've been trying with my globe and a flashlight, but then I thought that my smarter friends at a.net would know for sure...
