How Do I Get O&D Numbers For A City?

Tue Dec 28, 2004 1:43 am

How do I get the O&D numbers for a city: the top destinations and the pax to each of them?

I am particularly interested in the top destinations from RIC.

Thanks in advance.

This tool not only tells you the average airfare, but the amount of passengers that fly this route daily. http://www.gofox.com/tools/traveltools.php?pid=1213392&tool=farewatch. You will have to search each airport one by one, but it will give you a general idea. Enjoy!  Smile

http://www.faremeasure.com is also a good tool. I've not used gofox, but I know that faremeasure uses the most recent DOT data and I imagine that site does too, so picking one is just a matter of which interface you like better. I like the ability to sort faremeasure data for a city by distance between city pairs, average fare, and number of passengers.

ACAfan,

Here's the one from the DOT itself....bare with me kind of difficult to get to

http://ostpxweb.dot.gov/aviation/index.html

You need to go "domestic issues">"consumer air fare report">"consumer air fare report" (again)>table 6

Table 6 is the one that comes out in a .txt...I liked it much better when it was downloadable in excel...but you can always cut and paste like me..hehe.

Enjoy,

Ryan

Excel will give you a number of formatting options when you open .txt and .csv files from the File/Open menu. Saves cutting and pasting.  Smile

You can also build custom databases including historical information with the DOT information available here:

International O&D is considered Restricted Release Aviation Economic Information by USDOT.

However, if you are a U.S. citizen and meet the use and non-disclosure terms, you may certainly access this information upon application.

See the general terms at the link below which includes a link for both the HTML and PDF formats of the form to request International O&D information from the DOT:

ERJ170, the Brits have a good data operation at

http://www.caa.co.uk/

Look under "Economic" and then "Statistics." Good data by route. Airline-specific data are for UK airlines only.
