United 929 & 909 2/2/05

Wed Dec 29, 2004 2:38 am

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me?. Booked my annual skiing holiday a few weeks ago and we are flying from Belfast city to Denver. We are flying with BMI on the UK domestic route and United on the North America part of the journey.

The flight with United is via Chicago on the outbound leg and via Washington on the return leg. United now tell us we have to change planes in Chicago with a connection time of 1 hour 30 mins. We are due to arrive on United 929 at 13.10 and fly out with United on flight 909 at 14.45 Looking at Chicago Ohares website it appears we may have to change terminal, so does Chicago have a FCC like at Heathrow so we can clear customs and immigration in Denver or will we have to clear immigration and customs in Chicago then change terminals to catch our onward flight?

I am starting to worry as I hold a UK passport and I know that extra security measures have came into effect which might delay entry to the US. Normally when we go on holiday we fly direct so I have not had this problem before.

Thanks

Michael

The lagal connection time in ORD is standard 90 min, but on UA online, it is 80 min. So you should be fine. Have a great trip  Smile

You need not worry. UA knows what it's doing when it has connections like this. As far as changing terminals, there's a great tram system at ORD.

You'll arrive at the Int'l. concourse at ORD, the M gates. The tram over to T1 takes 5 minutes maybe. The only thing that sucks is that once you get to T1, you have to go through security again in order to reach the B/C gates for your connection to DEN.

But, I was able to do all that when I did a similar routing, LHR-ORD on 949, and that included a 15 minute visit to the 777 flight deck after arrival at ORD. Granted, I barely made the continuing flight to SEA, but it was worth it to see that flight deck!  Laugh out loud

No worries, mate! Enjoy your skiing vacation!

Going home via IAD is easier...you'll arrive at a C or D gate, and connecting to your LHR flight is a matter of walking down to one of the C gates. Very easy, no extra security checks.

All passengers must clear customs and immigration formalities at the first port of Entry into the US regardless of final destination. You will need to sort this out in ORD.

Thanks for flying with us! Hope you enjoy your flight!

Thanks for the answers. Hopefully all will go smoothly and the line at immigration will not be to long!

You will clear customs in ORD and you'll have enough time to connect there. Also, if you want to meet any of the crew in DEN, contact us, we'll be happy to hang out.
