Why is there a circular taxi path line prior to the Straight line for the BA A319.
Is that the position the Aircraft will need t be pushed back to,prior to Engine start.

It looks like there are arrows pointing toward the gate. I would imagine it is to give guidance to inbound aircraft that are not taxiing straight in to the gates.

If you notice Lufthansa next gate over is loosely following the circular guidance on the way to parking.

Next time I'm in WAW, I'll ask someone!TC

I don't know for sure but maybe it is because aircraft can taxi in from both directions, therefore the need for two lines to follow.

One is for the left turn into the gate from the ramp, the other is for a right turn into the gate from the ramp.

It is ineed for making the turn and ending up dead on the line for the ground crew to guide the a/c into the gate. I haven't seen this before in US Domestic terminals but at SFO's International terminal they do have these. My guess is that it's for a/c in tight areas where the chance of clipping a wing is high but then again you'd think the chance of that happening would be high at any gate with any a/c of any size!

Thanks again.

When I looked at it a circle wasn't the first thing that came to my mind  Big grin
