Delta At DTW

Sat Jan 01, 2005 2:54 pm

Does anyone know if there are plans for Delta to move into the new terminal at DTW? I was thinking they might follow CO due to their code share agreement with NW.

As soon as the new extension to the B & C concourse is done, is when Dl will move.

I had wondered the same thing the other day as I was booking a cheap Delta fare to SLC for some mid-winter skiing and saw a post that said mid Feb. Which seems like what NWAFA said when the B & C are done.

Is the old terminal mostly empty now that NW is gone? Any plans to tear part of it down?

The old terminal is pretty much a dump....1960's designs, innefficient corridors, etc etc etc....whenever i'm in it, I look at the NW one and want to be over there lol.

"The cockpit, what is it?" "It's the little room in the front of the plane where the pilot sits, but that's not importan

Keep in mind that there are two "Old Terminals" at DTW right now --

L.C. Smith home to Delta, Southwest, et. al. and the Davey terminal, the boarded up ex-home to NW... When I was last there in August the Davey terminal was very sad looking and I was a bit surprised that NW hadn't removed their signage completely from that building (skycap podiums looked like NW had just moved out)

Anyways, "dump" just about completely sums up L.C. Smith -- the only upside to it is that it lacks the annoying automated announcment thing that DL seems to be rolling out (ala ATL and CVG) -- looked like the building was about to fall down and the DL agent I ran into (after making a wrong turn headed for Comair's gate) had a tool box in hand and was walking towards a partially disassembled podium. Now that's something you don't see every day  Smile

Happy New Year!

don't forget the Berry terminal, the old intl' terminal, where all the non-scheds,ChampionAir,USA3000,et. al., flock together,it is still extant, and home to those lovely blue and white MG 727's,plus the occasional Miami Air 737-800,and all those boring Airbi.
the rumble of round engines is like music to me,likewise the thunder of thr JT8D
