Singapore Launches A380 Logo

Wed Jan 05, 2005 7:40 pm

http://www.asiatraveltips.com/news05/51-Logo.shtml

In the lead-up to the world’s first A380 taking to the skies, launch customer Singapore Airlines (SIA) has unveiled its specially created logo for the SIA A380.

With the taglines “First to Fly – the Singapore Airlines A380” and “Experience the Difference in 2006”.

This new SIA A380 logo also captures the most outstanding feature of Airbus’ truly double-decker aircraft in the twin row of windows.

Singapore airlines have added the following to their website:

In the lead-up to the world’s first A380 taking to the skies, launch customer Singapore Airlines (SIA) unveiled its specially created logo for the SIA A380.

With the taglines “First to Fly – the Singapore Airlines A380” and “Experience the Difference in 2006”, the message is clear:

Come 2006, SIA will be the “FIRST” Airline in the world to operate the A380, and the world will be invited to “experience” a travel concept that is different from what it is today.

This new SIA A380 logo also captures the most outstanding feature of Airbus’ truly double-decker aircraft in the twin row of windows, and underlines SIA’s commitment to remain the most innovative and service-oriented company in the air travel industry.

SIA has established many firsts time and again. The Airline will do so once again with the A380 when the aircraft joins the SIA fleet in 2006.

Strangely enough, it looks a looooooooot like the internal Airbus logo for the A380, but with less style.

We have a kind of two rows of windows, but doubled again with some nice colors.

January 18th. Wow, coming up pretty quick now!

As a 747 lover, I will have mixed emotions during this torch passing rollout.

On the 18th when it is rolled out, will it just be pure metal shell or will it be painted?

Looks to me like that could be put near the front of the original, the 747.

Nothing special.

rumour has it that we're going to have a brand spanking new livery, which will be kept secret until the delivery of our first a380. and sia has been conducting a new interior design try outs with our vip frequent flyers for their inputs here in singapore.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we will now demonstrate the use of the safety equipment on this aircraft...

Each one will be individually named, with the first being called "Mama Cass."

Names for subsequent deliveries will be "Aretha Franklin," "Carnie Wilson (pre-op)", etc.

Who really cares what the new SQ A 380 logo looks like .... As a frequent leisure passenger I have got no desire to fly in an A380, especially if I am on an economy ticket .... imagine the pain of travelling with so many other people. I really dont think the airlines are going to give Y pax more space. I'd prefer a 777/767/A330/A340 any day ! If I was in F or J class, the A380 may be better if the airlines are going to offer more space. Imagine the embarkation / disembarkation trauma that the A380 will create !

There will be no name for the A380 as SQ have already removed names from other aircrafts, 777/345/744.

Agree with 9V-SVC that the A380s will not be christened with any names - and that the likes of "Jubilee"and "Megatop" are on the way out.

This is the first time I have heard anything about a "spanking brand new livery" - Singaporegirl : Is there a credible source for this? It would be nice to have such a development given the acres of white fuselage available.

There was a previous mentioned here on this forum that the A380 will sport a special livery on its rollout on 18 Jan (as opposed to the regular Airbus house colours which we have seen for the past decades). Does anyone know if this is still the case?

Many thanks.

Come on guys, this is leading nowhere. I'm getting tired of this.

Starlionblue, ha ha ha, big fat ship. Oh my god. We've been hearing these jokes since 2002.

Condor24, the good old B versus A. Why don't we discuss the real important stuff here in the forum? Like EA CO AS, or Ka, they give real input. Thats what it is all about. Bringing real input into the forums.

Sorry, my post isnt really constructive input either. Just my personal comment on the decreasing quality of the forum over the last year, which is directly linked to die-hard A or B fans trying to convince the world that their plane is the best under the sun.

Lets all start an A versus G battle. Air transportation versus Ground transportation. Now that would bring us all together!

Ok, getting back to the topic, what a CRAPPY looking logo! Honestly, SQ is such a world class airline and in so many areas, they really show other airlines how to do it with a sense of style, but this logo looks like a school project! Another area where SQ fails miserably is their inflight magazine Silver Kris...very sub-standard 'Singaporean' style journalism.

Having said all that, I can still forgive the equal best airline in the world. (CX is the other)

I wish they won't take the A380's, fly them around, then sell them to EK and replace them with B744ERs...

...just like what they're doing to their A340-500, replacing them with 777-200ERs and making them "LeaderShites".

GotAirbus: You are speaking as if SIA has already confirmed that the A340-500 will be prematurely phased out and replaced by the B777-200ERs (or did you mean B777-200LRs?).

I think thus far, this line of thought is purely speculative in nature and conceptualised by the evergreen A vs B debate.

Some day, the A345 still needs to be replaced and given SIA's tendency to not have too old a fleet, it is likely that such replacements could be just 5 to 8 years down the road.

I frankly do not think that SIA will make such a mammoth investment in acquiring the A380s only to replace them with the B744ERs (or did you mean the B747 Advanced since the B744ERs are currently in production?).

Is SIN-EWR one of SQs high density routes?, with about 2-3 daily flights? If this is the case then you could expect to see the A380.

Back to the subect, I can't see whats so special about the logo.

Hi all!

The good news on SIAs website is that "However, to ensure the highest quality flying experience for our customers, SIA’s A380 will have less than 500 seats in a three-class configuration".

I just flew back to Europe on SQs Megatop and, my good, their Economyclass is tight! Just earlier I had a chance to fly CPH-SIN on 777-200ER, SIN-MEL on 777-300 and PER-SIN on 777-200 and I must give a lot of credit to the spaciousness they give also to Y-class passengers.

If possible I most certainly will avoid flying their 747-400 from now on - unless they are planning a total refurbishment with longer seat pitch.

Best regards,

It's a bit of an anticlimactic logo if you ask me.

Names for subsequent deliveries will be "Aretha Franklin," "Carnie Wilson (pre-op)", etc

You also forgot about "Nell Carter" and "Roseanne"

If AI ever orders the A380, the first one would be called "Tuntun"  Laugh out loud
