Thu Jan 06, 2005 9:01 am

Just went to the French website of EK. Put in CDG to MEL in January returning in February...The flights proposed were CDG to Dubai (non stop), then Dubai AKL (one stop) !!! then AKL to MEL !
Strange strange....anyone knows if this is just a one off wierdness ?

I once looked for VIE-BKK and got the following itinerary:

Vienna-Dubai-Colombo-Singapore-Jakarta-Bangkok with the return flight only stopping in Dubai.
And it was inexpensive as well!
Who wouldn't opt for such an intinerary? 3 extra flights, 7 in total.

I just checked, you can do the Jakarta, Singapore and Colombo stops on your return flight as well, that makes 10 flights only travelling from Vienna to Bangkok!

That is very bizarre. It should have automatically displayed EK 074 which operates daily 1430 - 0010 (+1), connecting with EK 404 also daily 0245 - 0110 (+1). The connect time in DXB is more than sufficient.

The only possible reason why it might not would be if EK404 were completely sold out. Otherwise I can't imagine why it would default to such a roundabout connection.
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

yes, i suppose the more direct flights are full as price wise it certainly was not advantageous (some sections popped up in classe affaire). So their flights to MEL and SYD are doing very well are they ?
why not just to SYD and then down to MEL...doesnt EK have any links with other airlines that operate domestic australia ? I did not check, but I assume that the one stop Dubai AKL is a stop in SYD ?
Indeed if the price is cheap why not, I would love to visit Auckland, but no it is not.

Well, at least you could use it to build up frequent flyer miles.
Upcoming S4 0221 LIS-PDL A310-300!!!

It's the very height of the summer season down under. A friend of mine tried to get from AKL to MEL next week, and found nothing in Y class.

It's possible that all the cheaper seats (or even all seats) DXB/MEL are gone. I think they gave you a fun route - enjoy.

cheers
