A Call For Support

Thu Jan 06, 2005 1:06 pm

There are many among us who are facing difficult challenges and an unsure future, including stakeholders in struggling airlines and military personnel defending our nation.

As fellow aviation enthusiasts, we need to remember to be supportive. Our forums should be a place where all feel welcome, and among friends, especially in difficult times.

We shouldn't tolerate those who's posts divide, hurt, or exclude. That behavior should not be welcome here.

We can be objective when we review and comment on the day's aviation news and still show our support for our fellow participants.

This is a special little online community, where all participants share a love for aviation. Support for each other is a wonderful aspect that we need to work to preserve.

Spokes,

That's a very noble thing you're suggesting, and I really feel for those in the industry that are hurting. Unfortunately (and fortunately), expressing opinions positive or negative is one of the freedoms that members enjoy. That's the sole purpose of the forums, to talk about what we think is right and/or wrong with aviation as a whole.

I would like to offer a couple of suggestions:

1) Perhaps making your own website, specifically tailored as a support/network group.

2) Maybe ask the administrators here at A.net to allow a separate category for the above mentioned.

Again I wish you and everyone else in your same boat, all the best.

Well I'd be the first to stand up for our rights to express positive and negative opinions here. That's important.

But lately, some posts only seem to hurt or degrade. That's not right.

I'm fortunate to not be hurting right now. But I feel for those that are.

CRPilot, I appreciate your kind words.

Dude, have you checked out this board anytime in the past 5 years? Complaining, whining, and trashing one another is what A.net is all about!

As an aviation lover, I believe it is my duty to call out people whose posts are illogical, partisan, or just plain stupid. Those people hurt the aviation community more than they help it.

Right now the industry is hurting, largely because of stupid actions by labor and management. Let's get the stupidity out of the industry, and off of A.net!

CRPilot and Ssides,

Welcome to my respected user list!  Big thumbs up

You took the words right out of my mouth. The airline industry is like everything else. It has it's pros and cons. We are entitled to our views and as long as we don't insult or abuse we can say it.

If you want a support group start something like alcoholics anonymous, you can call it "Struggling airlines anonymous"

Ssides summed it up pretty well. When you have users that pretend to be something they are not, and 13 years olds telling off people that have worked in the industry for 25+ years, they deserve what they get. While it would be nice to have a mature conversation everytime, it just won't happen as long as there are differing opinions, rumors, and false info being posted.
