Ryanair: Kind, Caring & Considerate Over Disaster

Fri Jan 07, 2005 10:54 pm

Ryanair has placed over 20 large collection boxes on all its check-in stations at DUB. I suspect the airline has also done it at other airports. What was most striking, apart from the obviousness of the boxes, was that no other airline at DUB - not Aer Lingus or anyone else - had done the same. Evidently, Ryanair can be a kind, caring and considerate airline.

Which other carriers throughout the world has done this?

Erm.. but this will be public money going into these donation boxes - not Ryanair's.

Hi,

I'm not quiet sure what you are trying to prove about FR with this post but for the record, every check-in desk, for every airline at BFS (That’s bmibaby, easyJet, Jet2, MyTravel Airways, First Choice Airways, Eastern Airways etc...) has a collection bucket. The same for LPL and MAN.

So it really doesn't make FR anymore kind, considerate or caring then most other airlines.

Pe@rson - great marketing campain: WE DONATE MONEY FROM OUR CUSTOMERS!

It's ok that FR lets customers donate, why not? Maybe they could round up the amount "a little" - that really would be great.

Well I didn't see any at MAN or CRL or DUB...

Indeed, 7BAC, but at least it had the initiative...

All UNICEF change-for-good donations made on BA flights will be forwarded to the tsunami disaster relief. Additionally, BA has made flights and staff available for disaster recovery assistance.

After the PR debacle last week of the travellers returning from their holiday early after the tsunami, only to be told they had to pay EUR1100 extra to connect home on FR, you'd think FR could make a slightly better gesture than putting a collecting tin on the check-in desk. Pretty pitiful.

Ahhhh - I was wondering what other airlines were doing as there were no other collection boxes in the terminal at DUB. 'Tis nice to know that the donation pool from airlines will grow... Big grin
